The participants
This course is designed for professionals seeking a broad overview of the key components of EU energy policy and the decision-making processes involved in addressing current challenges and the priorities of the 2024-2029 Commission . It is not intended to delve into every aspect of EU energy policy in detail, but rather to provide participants with a solid understanding of the major policy areas, governance structures, and practical implications within a one-week timeframe. The course is aimed at:
- National civil servants from EU Member States responsible for energy, transport, climate, and industry;
- Professionals working in sectors directly impacted by recent legislative developments in energy transition;
- Consultants specialising in European affairs and/or energy and climate policy;
- Officials from EU institutions;
- Public affairs professionals;
- Academics and other professionals working in energy, climate, or sectors affected by EU energy policies, both within the EU and beyond.
Participants should have:
- A university degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, economics, political science, engineering, environmental studies, energy, or similar);
- A basic understanding of the EU institutions and decision-making processes (to ensure they can immediately focus on energy-specific policy dynamics);
- Relevant professional experience, while prior technical expertise in energy is not mandatory, participants should be currently working in (or transitioning into) roles where understanding energy and climate policy is beneficial;
- A very good command of English.
Seats for this course are limited, in order to ensure an optimal interactive environment that fosters discussions and facilitates networking.
