Honorary Professorship Award Ceremony for Professor Jacques Rupnik

On Wednesday, 30 September, the Inter-Departmental European Advanced Studies (IDEAs) programme was pleased to organise a ceremony for the Honorary Professorship of Jacques Rupnik.

On this occasion, Prof. Rupnik delivered a lecture entitled "The East-West Divide Revisited: Recasting the European Order from 1989 to the War in Ukraine". This lecture traced a period in which Prof. Rupnik has been not only an observer but also a participant in European history, from the transitions of the early 1990s to the contemporary reinvention of the EU project in a troubled international context.

Throughout his academic career, Prof. Rupnik has produced a body of work that has shaped our understanding of European integration in Central Europe, political transformations in the region, and EU policies towards neighbouring countries. This award ceremony also acknowledged his long-standing academic contribution to the College of Europe, where he has been a visiting professor since 1999. Within the IDEAs programme, he has co-taught the course "La Grande Europe : l'Union européenne et ses voisinages" with Prof. Philippe Perchoc since 2012.

This award, therefore, represents an opportunity to express gratitude for more than twenty-five years of intellectual exchange, within the walls of the College of Europe and beyond.

The recording of the full lecture is available on YouTube, and the full text of the conference can be downloaded below.
